Q: How does automatic pad washing work?
A: After cleaning, the dock will wash the mopping pad. The robot will lower the mopping pad and drive back and forth over the Pad Washing Roller. The pad washing system uses the same clean water that is used for mopping to wash the pad after the mission. This process will take several minutes.
You can also instruct the robot to clean the pad after visiting specific rooms. This is automatically set during dirt detective jobs and can be manually set in the new job area. This ensures the pad is clean for the next area of the home.
Q: How does pad drying work?
A: After completing a pad wash cycle, the dock will then begin to dry the mopping pad by blowing air (not heated). This cycle will run for approximately 4 hours and reduce the dampness of the cleaning pad without fully drying it. You may hear a slight noise coming from the dock during this time. This is a normal sound coming from the fan.
Q: Why is my pad still wet after the pad drying cycle is complete?
A: Pad drying times can vary from robot to robot. As noted on the product page, variables in the home environment, such as humidity levels as well as overall pad wetness, may contribute to the pad taking longer to dry.
If you notice that the pad is still damp after the pad drying cycle is complete, here are some tips to further assist you:
- Remove the pad from the mopping arm and continue to let it air-dry
- Leave the robot on the dock to allow the drying to complete, even if the pad drying shows as complete in the app. In some instances, there is very little moisture left on the pad at this time, and it will finish drying on its own.
- In case there is no slight noise coming from the dock during the pad drying time, please contact iRobot Customer Care
Q: Why does the dock smell of wet pads?
A: Please check the position of the dock according to the instructions in the owner's manual.
If you are concerned about this, please remove the pad from the mopping arm and let it air-dry. You may also go to Auto-Wash™ Dock Care and Maintenance Instructions for more information on how to clean your Auto-Wash dock.
