Roomba® Plus 500, How to Clean or Replace the Bin and Filter

Cleaning the Bin and Filter 

You may notice that there is no bin release button on the side of the robot. Instead, the robot has a magnetic top cover. 

1. Remove the robot's top cover by lifting up.
   
   

2. Press the dust bin release button to remove the dust bin.
   
   
   
   

3. Remove the filter.
   
   
   
   

4. Clean any debris from the filter with the cleaning brush.
   
   
   
   Note: The filter has a plastic piece surrounding it. It does not separate further once removed from the bin. 
   
   

5. Open the bin door. Empty and clean the dust bin with the cleaning brush or a clean cloth. Close the bin door.
   
   
   
   

6. Reinsert the filter.
   
   
   
   

7. Place the bin back in the robot.
   
   
   
   

8. Return the robot’s top cover.
   
   

NOTE: If you place your robot on the dock by hand, it will not empty automatically. To evacuate, use the Roomba®Home App or press the home button while the robot is on the dock. 

Washing the Bin

1. Release the bin, remove the filter, and open the bin door.
   
   

2. Rinse the dust bin using warm water.
   
   
   
   

3. Make sure bin is completely dry. Reinsert the filter and place the bin back in the robot.

IMPORTANT: The bin is not dishwasher safe.

IMPORTANT: To achieve optimal performance with your robot and dock, clean and/or replace your robot’s filter as needed.
